形態特徵

Annuals; culms tufted.
sheaths laterally compressed, keeled; ligule ca. 1mm long.
Inflorescence of 1-several digitate spikes, spikes 3-9 cm long. Spikelets more than 4-flowered, ca. 5 mm long; glumes keeled, membranaceous, lanceolate, 1-nerved, unequal; lower glume 2 mm long; upper glume 3 mm long; lowest floret ca. 3 mm long; lemma membranaceous, keeled, winged, semi-ovate in side view, 1-nerved, as long as floret; palea membranaceous, 2-keeled, shorter than lemma; anthers 3, ca. 0.6 mm long.
Utricle ovate, ca. 1.5 mm long, ventrally grooved, finely marked with comb-like wrinkles.
The root systems of <i>Eleusine indica</i> is deep, extensive, and therefore the plants are not easy to eradicate. This is one of the common grasses throughout Taiwan.
